Reading this Week
Unit 2 Lesson 6
We will be learning about the short a sound this week. Students will be reading a fable story called "Jack and the Wolf. We will be reading it throughout the week and discussing the characters and the lesson it teaches us. .
Decodable Readers this week:
Have your child read each of the decodable reader books one time to you, sign and return to their teacher. Please also have them read the fluency passage "The Dot" (on the back of the blue homework sheet) each night. They need to read 15 minutes and mark in on their reading log. Practicing reading at home helps the student become a better reader. Thanks for your support. This week there will be 2 decodable readers on Wednesday.

Please have your student read these decodable books to you 1-3 times and sign.
High Frequency Words: every, come, said, hear. These will be sent home on yellow card stock each week. Have your student practice these words weekly. This will help them learn them faster and be a a better reader.
Have students read 15 minutes and mark their reading log for September. Please have student turn in reading log with parent signature on Friday, Nov. 1st
Writing
Students are learning how to write a complete, 3 star sentence. They will be learning how to write a narrative story through the writing process. As a class, students will do a graphic organizer, rough draft, and final draft together.
